Lifeguard Staffing & Training

Hastings Water Works will supply certified, professional lifeguards for your facility. Our lifeguard staff is the most highly trained and educated in all of Northern Ohio.

Each Lifeguard We Employ:

• Meets all standards of the American Red Cross training program.
• Must undergo complete lifeguard re-certification every year.  
• Receives a minimum of four hours per month of in-service training to keep their skills current and sharp.  
• Is subject to an unannounced, video taped audit, two to three times a season to review and improve their skills. All personnel receive their training and certification from Jeff Ellis and Associates, the country's leading lifeguard licensing and risk assessment company. Ellis and Associates licensed the lifeguards used at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, and at Disneyland and Disney World, Cedar Point and some of the most exclusive aquatic facilities throughout the United States. Hastings Water Works is the only Northern Ohio aquatic facility management company affiliated with Jeff Ellis and Associates.

• This video shows just 1 of the 10 Golden Guards we received in 2008. A Golden Guard is awarded to us by Jeff Ellis and Associates. After each unannounced audit they provide us with the score of each individual lifeguard. The scores range from:
  • Fails
  • Meets Industry Standards (meaning they are good)
  • Exceeds Industry Standards (meaning they are real good/excellent)
  • For the individual who is the epitome of what a lifeguard should be or text book perfect, they receive a Golden Guard award. Ellis and Associates give out up to 100 Golden Guard awards worldwide. Ellis and Associates has over 30,000 lifeguards worldwide. Out of 30,000+ lifeguards worldwide they give out this award to 100 lifeguards and we received 10 of them in 2008. In the last 4 years, Hastings Water Works have had 24 lifeguards receive the Golden Guard award.
• In addition to 10 Golden Guards, we had 11 out of 12 audited lifeguards receive an exceeds and one receive a meets. This means 22 lifeguards were audited this summer and 21 of them received an exceeds or better. Is your pool 'Exceed' or even 'Golden Guard' safe?

We make it easy to use our professional lifeguards. Because they are employees of Hastings Water Works, we handle all payroll liabilities, including Workers Compensation, Social Security and other payroll expenses.

Finally, we carry a total of five million dollars of liability coverage. It's what you should expect from a company with the most proactive management strategy in the business.
